Red-tailed or Turkestan Shrike Lanius phoenicuroides

Bempton Cliffs, East Yorkshire, June 28th 2022 - a most unexpected arrival at one of the quietest times of year but a stunning adult male that showed very well at times catching insects along the wide bridleway / track sides. Having seen a few juvenile Isabelline Shrikes in the past and the stil unidentified adult male at Anderby Creek, Lincolnshire in November 1982, it was very nice to see a full adult male that seems to fit the criteria of phoenicuroides but species, race or whatever the bird was a real looker
