Baird’s Sandpiper Calidris bairdii

Alkborough Flats, North Lincolnshire June 21st 2022

The 44th different species of wader recorded from the Flats this striking adult was totally out of the blue as the site had been dire for waders all spring and on this day there was just one other small wader present, a Little Ringed Plover and that was the first of that species for weeks. There had been five previous Lincolnshire records of Baird’s Sandpiper and none in spring.
