Brown Hare sunset

Saturday evening my goal was to try and capture a brood of Marsh Harriers going to roost against a striking sky but as usual cloud rolled in off the North Sea and by 20:30 it was pretty dull and dismal; time to head for home and hope for another day; then as luck would have it a sliver of light broke through the clouds and gradually the sun appeared albeit slightly blurred by atmospheric distortion but it was too late to get back for the harriers so I continued homeward passing a couple of fields where the Brown Hares were active in fact eight were bopping about and then it happened; two of them ran up to the top of a small ridge and sat almost level with the setting sun but where was the camera in the boot!!! Clearly, they would not put up with me getting out of the car and opening said boot and one duly ran off but the second sat and sat and I even managed to get forward and line it up with the sun for a few seconds before it went and the sun went down. No AI here of messing about with two images just a bit of luck and a surreal experience.

It was a fleeting encounter and getting things frames and in focus was an instant challenge

I had the 200-800 lens on and was conscious of the chance of zooming out for some different images

The grass stems added to the image as they caught the suns glow
